Booking the wrong size vehicle is the most common way to overpay. A rough guide by payload:

Two things people get wrong: volume often runs out before weight does — light bulky cargo like foam or empty containers fills a vehicle long before it hits payload limits. And overloading is not a saving. Beyond the permitted limit you’re liable for penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act, and an insurance claim after an accident can be rejected outright.
