Different sectors advertise very differently, and WhatsApp groups carry a lot of what never reaches a portal.

Where Tamil Nadu Actually Hires
The state’s job market is unusually spread out — you don’t have to be in Chennai. Knowing which cluster fits your skills changes where you should be looking:
- Chennai — IT and services along OMR and in Tidel Park, plus finance, healthcare and a large port and logistics sector.
- Coimbatore — engineering, pumps and motors, textiles machinery, and a growing IT and education base.
- Tiruppur — knitwear and garment export. Enormous employer of machine operators, checkers, packers and supervisors.
- Hosur and Oragadam — automotive and component manufacturing, with steady ITI and diploma recruitment.
- Salem and Erode — steel, handloom, powerloom and agricultural trade.
- Sivakasi — fireworks, printing and matchworks.
- Trichy and Madurai — engineering, education, healthcare and government offices.
Government Recruitment in Tamil Nadu
- TNPSC conducts most state civil service and departmental recruitment, through Group 1, 2, 2A and 4 examinations among others. Notifications go up on the official TNPSC site.
- TRB handles teacher recruitment, and TET qualification is required for school teaching posts.
- TN Police, TNUSRB run constable and SI recruitment with physical and written stages.
- Velai Vaippu Seithi — the state employment newspaper, published by the Department of Employment and Training, carries government and quasi-government vacancies. Several groups above circulate it.
- Employment exchange registration is free and still used for some recruitment and seniority claims. Renew it when due; a lapsed registration loses your seniority date.
Apply only through the official portal named in the notification. Third-party sites charging to fill your form add nothing and collect your documents.
Avoiding Job Scams
- No employer or consultancy charges a candidate. Registration, training and deposit fees are all fraud.
- Be wary of “part-time work from home, daily payment” posts. These are task scams — you receive a small genuine payment, then get pushed to deposit your own money.
- Garment and factory recruitment sometimes involves hostel-based schemes for young women. Verify the employer directly, confirm what the accommodation and pay actually are in writing, and be very cautious of anything requiring you to move immediately.
- For Gulf and Singapore roles, verify the recruiting agent’s RA licence on the eMigrate portal, and remember the employer pays for the work visa.
- Never share Aadhaar, PAN, bank details or OTPs with a recruiter contact from a group.
- Report fraud on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or by calling 1930.
