What NEET Actually Involves
NEET UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency and is the single entrance route for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, veterinary and allied medical courses in India.
- Subjects — Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology), based on the Class 11 and 12 syllabus.
- Marking — correct answers earn marks and wrong answers carry a negative penalty, so guessing has a real cost. Learn where your accuracy drops and leave those.
- Biology carries the largest share of questions, which is why toppers usually secure Biology first and treat Physics as the differentiator.
- Counselling runs through the All India Quota (handled by MCC) and state quotas, each with separate registration and deadlines. Missing a counselling round is a common and avoidable way to lose a seat.
Exam dates, syllabus and pattern get revised, so confirm everything on the NTA and MCC websites rather than trusting a forward.
Using a NEET Group Without Losing Time
- Post the actual question. A photo of the step you’re stuck on gets a real answer; “explain thermodynamics” doesn’t.
- Answering others is revision. If you can explain why an option is wrong, you know that concept.
- Two groups is enough. Aspirants routinely join fifteen and read none.
- Ignore rank predictions and “expected cut-off” forwards. They’re guesses, and they cause a lot of unnecessary panic.
- Check the clock. Twenty minutes discussing the exam is not twenty minutes of study.
- Leave any group that turns into comparison and boasting. It won’t help your score.
A Note on Pirated Coaching Material
Groups offering free ALLEN, Aakash, Resonance or Physics Wallah packages are distributing copyrighted material. Setting the legality aside, the practical problem is that these are almost always old batches — modules from two or three years ago that no longer match the current syllabus. Preparing from an outdated module is worse than useless. NCERT is free, official, and remains the backbone of the Biology paper.
Staying Safe in Student Groups
Most NEET aspirants are still at school or just finishing, and open groups are public spaces. A few sensible habits:
- Don’t share your phone number, address, school name or photos in an open group.
- Keep conversations in the group. Be cautious if an adult you don’t know moves the conversation to private messages.
- Tell a parent or teacher if anyone in a group makes you uncomfortable, asks for personal details, or asks you to keep something secret.
- Report and block rather than engaging. WhatsApp lets you report a group or contact directly.
- Nobody legitimate asks for money — for notes, mentoring, “guaranteed seats” or counselling help.
- Medical seat fraud is real. No agent can secure you an MBBS seat; admission is by NEET rank through official counselling only.
